The suggester summed it up more eloquently than anything I could write. She said, "pecado capital. by ~mute-nOface seems to echo elements of Magritte's "The Son of Man" and is beautifully executed--there is this balance and lovely curvacture in her limbs as she holds the scales. This piece is almost a feminine approach to the original sin in that while Magritte's face was hidden by the apple, her idenity is shrouded in darkness and the apple--the fruit of knowledge--is pierced by a knife. What I love the most is the grip of her handle of the knife as she holds up the apple as a message--this apple, the root of the original sin, holds no power here. This is her liberation from sin, and there's such a brutal indifference to the photograph with her back to the scales, the apples, the candle. This fruit that has weighed down upon women for thousands of years, no longer restrains her--she is sexless here, she is fierce."
